April 3rd-6th: Wishing everyone a very happy Easter. We hope you all get to spend some time enjoying the long weekend with family and friends. We'll be keeping the winery open Saturday and Easter Sunday this year, so come by to visit and pick up some last minute wine for dinner. If your family is looking to make a day trip to PEC, check out our ideas for visiting The County.
If you can't make it to the winery this weekend, we have some great products in the LCBO that are under $20 and will pair quite nicely with Easter dinner. We've made things even easier by providing some of our favourite Easter Dinner Recipes to go along with our LCBO-available wines. Enjoy.
April 8th: We're pleased to be one of the many wineries participating in County in the Capital. This Savvy event will be held at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel on April 8th between 7 pm - 9:30 pm. There will be over 100 wines, craft beers and ciders to sample, all from The County. After you sample, you can stock up by ordering your favourite new products right at the event. When you order 12 bottles or more, of any combination of products, you'll also receive free shipping. Stop by our table to try wines that are not available through the LCBO.
Other participating wineries are: Casa-Dea Estates, Del-Gatto Estates, Devil’s Wishbone, Halfmoon Bay, Harwood Estates, Hillier Creek Estates, Huff Estates, Keint-He, Lighthall, Long Dog, Rosehall Run, Sandbanks, Stanners, Three Dog and more.
If you weren’t able to purchase a promo ticket, regular tickets and VIT (very important taster) tickets are now on sale at EventBrite. We'll see you soon Ottawa.
April 16th: After we visit Canada’s capital, it's time for us to visit the big city of Toronto. PEC wineries will be gathering under one roof for a single evening, so don't miss your chance to explore the diversity of The County wines. Come out and sample some old favourites and explore some new styles that are not available through the LCBO. The best aspect of this Wine Align event is that you can conveniently order wines directly at the event and have them shipped to you for free.
Wine tasting events are all about trying some great wine and food while socializing. This event always goes and above and beyond. It succeeds each year in being one of the most entertaining tastings in the city. Check of this great article from Grape Selections. It's an amazing summary of County in the City 2014 and reviews the standout products from last year. Our 2009 Chardonnay was awarded 90 points: "Though food friendly, enjoy this wine on-its-own, drink now 2020+ (cork enclosure). My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts – recommended (quality) for lovers of oak influenced wines." The best part is we still have some available for purchase. Shop online to pick up a few bottles.
The County in the City try and buy event will be held on April 16th at Airship 37 (37 Parliament Street). Wine and food samples are included in tickets prices. Purchase your tickets now and come see what makes The County distinct from all other regions.
April 18th: It’s no secret that The County is the up and coming wine region in Canada. The County’s similarity to Champagne’s limestone soil allows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to thrive and produce sparkling wines of outstanding quality. What sets us apart as a region is our vine growing and wine making philosophy. Our winemakers cultivate, experiment and innovate to create recognizable and distinguished characteristics in their wines that can't be produced anywhere else.
Join these PEC winemakers for a night that showcases the variations of sparkling personalities available in The County. Let’s gather to chat and cheers to some amazing sparkling wine that’s grown and crafted locally. There will be a short presentation followed by tastings paired with oysters and other accompaniments. For more information or to purchase tickets online now, visit EventBrite.
May 9th: It might be a bit early to start thinking about May, but the early bird gets the worm. In this case, the worm is a ticket to one of Picton's biggest events, Terroir Wine and Farmer's Market. Early bird tickets are on sale now and regular admission tickets will go on sale April 1st. Make sure to keep Saturday May 9th free to come sample newly released wines, try food from local restaurants and cheese shops, and socialize while browsing through this giant farmer's market.
If you don't live in the area, certain companies such as Savvy are providing bus transportation from Ottawa. You can relax in the coach bus while someone else navigates the country roads. The Savvy tour leaving from Ottawa hits Terroir and then continues on to a local brewery and winery. A Sommelier will be on board to answer any wine related questions about PEC.
Terroir will be held at the Crystal Palace, on Main Street in Picton between the hours of 11am-5pm. More details to come, but in the meantime, check this out to read more or purchase tickets.
