Robert N. Granger, Q.C.

Chairman

Robert Granger fell in love with farming in his early years while spending time on his grandfather’s farm near Lindsay, Ontario. A family motor trip through eastern Ontario introduced Robert to his Loyalist roots and family history throughout the era of the War of 1812.

In 1970, while practicing law in downtown Toronto, Robert and his wife Diana happened upon the Trumpour farm and were immediately taken with its picturesque beauty and the Grange Home Farm became the weekend retreat for the Grangers and their children.

For several years Robert was a weekend farmer, specializing in building the authentic rail fences that now beautifully complement the acres of vineyards surrounding the winery.

In 1999 Robert was contacted by his godson, Peter Walling, regarding the growing interest in grapes in the Prince Edward County region. Over the next year all local activities were carefully studied and in the summer of 2000 the decision was made to plant as it seemed the perfect agricultural activity for the farm, the County and the family.
