Messages from Caroline
It is hard to believe April is over. The crew arrived from Mexico and I think they must of have brought spring with them. Currently we are dehilling and lifting wire. The Isabella vineyard, the Diana block and Gracefield are up, the Victoria block will be next followed by Northfield and Newfield (still unnamed).
We will be pruning in earnest next week as the buds are already pushing. Mike has been out to set the fans as we no longer have any tolerance for frost. I wonder how many sleepless nights we will have before Mother’s Day……..the current long range forecast doesn’t look too bad actually.
In the cellar despite the fact he just very recently became the father of a beautiful 8.5 pound baby boy named Ewen Donald, Jeff has been busy. We bottled both the 2006 Cabernet Merlot and the 2006 Pinot Noir. They certainly took longer than we anticipated but I think you will find them well worth the wait. They both have release dates in June. We will be releasing the 2007 Rose on the Victoria Day weekend as usual and Kevin Quain will be back to help us celebrate.
